About

Dr. Srikrishnan Divakaran is a Theoretical Computer Scientist with over 25 years of research and teaching experience in Computer Science as well related disciplines like Computational and Data Sciences. He has taught a wide range of courses in Computer Science as well as related disciplines like Combinatorial Optimization, Bioinformatics/Computational Biology and Data Sciences, and has a good research background in the design and analysis of algorithms for problems with applications in Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, Combinatorial Optimization and Data Sciences. In Computational Biology, Dr. Divakaran’s research focuses on the design and development of computational tools for variants of phylogenetic tree alignment, a key computational biology problem for identifying patterns in biological sequences that help to solve fundamental biological problems in genome mapping, drug design and epidemiology. In Combinatorial Optimization, Dr. Divakaran’s research focus is on the design and analysis of algorithms for solving packing problems, a class of optimization problems in mathematics that attempt to pack objects together using as few containers as possible. These packing problems have useful applications in storage, memory and processor allocation in computer systems, and logistics and supply chain management. In Data Science, Dr. Divakaran’s research is in the design and analysis of (i) decision tree based algorithms for clustering problems in unsupervised learning; (ii) algorithms for image registration with applications in medical imaging
