Dr. Shankar Karuppannan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Geology, College of Applied Natural Sciences (SoANS), Adama Science and Technology University, Adama, Ethiopia. He earned his PhD in Applied Geology (Hydrogeology, Remote Sensing, and GIS) from the Department of Earth Sciences, Annamalai University, India. He also serves as an Adjunct Faculty Member at the Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), Saveetha University, Chennai–600077, Tamil Nadu, India.
He has successfully carried out several research projects in collaboration with both international and local researchers, supported by funding from the University Grants Commission (UGC), India, and Adama Science and Technology University. One of his projects was ranked as the second-best research project at the School of Applied Natural Sciences in 2018.
Dr. Karuppannan is an active researcher in the areas of hydrogeology, environmental hydrogeochemistry, environmental pollution, geostatistics, and remote sensing and GIS applications in geology, water, soil, natural hazards, agrarian, and environmental resources. He has published over 150 research papers in national and international journals and conferences and has contributed to six book chapters.
He has served as a peer reviewer for more than 50 international journals and has been recognized as a Best Peer Reviewer by several journals. He is also a member of the editorial boards of various international scientific journals.
