About

With over two decades of experience in interdisciplinary research, I am a Senior Fellow at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi, where my work has focused on the interface of science, policy, and sustainable development. My research spans sustainable agriculture and food systems, land-use transitions, environmental governance, climate adaptation, innovation policy, and the science-policy interface. Trained in agricultural sciences and science policy, I adopt systems and governance perspectives to examine how institutional arrangements, policy coherence, stakeholder participation, and innovation shape sustainability outcomes.

My research integrates environmental, social, and economic dimensions of sustainable development, with particular emphasis on climate-resilient agriculture, biodiversity conservation, land restoration, low-carbon development, digital governance, traditional knowledge systems, and sustainability transitions. A central theme of my work is understanding how governance capacity, institutional design, and evidence-informed decision-making can strengthen policy implementation and enable transformative change.

I have led and contributed to multidisciplinary research programmes supported by national and international organisations, including UNDP, the World Bank, WHO, GIZ, the World Resources Institute (WRI), the Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU), and the Government of India. These collaborations have brought together researchers, policymakers, civil society organisations, and international partners to co-produce knowledge for addressing complex sustainability challenges. My work has informed national and international policy processes, including India's G20 and BRICS Presidencies and the National Adaptation Plan process, while contributing to evidence-based policymaking on sustainable food systems, biodiversity, climate resilience, and green growth.

Alongside research, I contribute to teaching, mentoring, and capacity building as Adjunct Faculty at the TERI School of Advanced Studies, Visiting Faculty at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Rohtak, and Guest Faculty at the International Centre for Environment Audit and Sustainable Development. My teaching and academic engagement focus on systems thinking, sustainability, environmental governance, and socio-economic empowerment, reflecting my commitment to developing the next generation of researchers and policy professionals.

I have authored and edited numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, books, book chapters, and policy reports. My current research explores the governance of sustainability transitions, innovation systems, digital governance, traditional knowledge, and participatory approaches for advancing resilient, inclusive, and evidence-informed pathways towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
