About
Dr. Shasank Sekhar Swain (MSc, PhD, FICS) is an Indian biomedical scientist specializing in bioinformatics, structural biology, drug design and synthesis, and network biology and pharmacology. His research focuses on hybrid drug development, computer-aided drug design, natural product-based therapeutics, and antibacterial drug discovery. He has been supported by the DHR-Young Scientist award and the ICMR-Post Doctoral Research Fund from the Department of Health Research and the Indian Council of Medical Research, Government of India. He received the prestigious Odisha Young Scientist Award-2020 (Life Science) from the Odisha Bigyan Academy, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Odisha, for his innovative research on hybrid drug development strategies. He was also honored with the Rajdhani Gaurav Samman-2025 by the Hon'ble Governor of Odisha in recognition of his contributions to medical science. Dr. Swain has been listed among Stanford–Elsevier's World's Top 2% Scientists for three consecutive years (2023–2025) in the sub-categories of Medicinal & Biomolecular Chemistry and Pharmacology & Pharmacy. He is further recognized by SciRank Global as among the World's Top 5% Scientists (2025).
