About

I earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electronics and Communication Engineering from M.B.M. Engineering College, Jodhpur, India, in 1978. I subsequently joined the 22nd batch of the Training School at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), where I served as Scientist/Engineer ‘C’ (1978–1983) and contributed to the development of microprocessor-based data acquisition systems for the CIRUS nuclear reactor. I was promoted to Scientific Officer-SD in 1983.

In 1985, I transitioned to academia at Jai Narain Vyas University (JNVU), Jodhpur, initially in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, teaching B.Tech. (Computer Science) and MCA programs. With the establishment of the Department of Computer Science, I shifted my academic focus and earned a Ph.D. in 2004, specializing in Natural Language Processing.

I served as Head of the Department of Computer Science from 2001 to 2006 and was promoted to Professor in 2004.
I later headed the Department of Computer Science at M.B.M. Engineering College (2009–2013) and contributed to the early academic development of IIT Jodhpur, teaching Computer Architecture, Automata Theory, and Artificial Intelligence (2010–2017).

I served as Director of JIET, Jodhpur (2014–2020).

I have supervised five Ph.D. scholars and am the author of three textbooks published by PHI Learning and Springer Nature.
