About
Dr. Arunima Biswas is working as Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, University of Kalyani since November 2015. She completed her Masters in Zoology from University of Calcutta in 2005. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in 2010 from CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (CSIR-IICB) where she worked on molecular mechanisms of cAMP signalling in the unicellular protozoan parasite Leishmania as CSIR-research fellow after qualifying CSIR-NET. She was awarded with DST-INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship and joined CSIR-IICB as a DST-INSPIRE Faculty in December 2012. There she started working as an independent PI on Cell Cycle Regulation of Leishmania in context of cAMP signalling. In March 2015, she joined Dinabandhu Mahavidyalaya as an assistant professor in the Department of Zoology. Later in 2015, she joined University of Kalyani. She has publications in renowned international journals like Journal of Cellular Biochemistry (IF 4.2), Journal of Molecular Liquids (IF 6.6) Free Radical Biology and Medicine (Impact Factor: 5.8), Journal of Immunology (Impact Factor: 4.98), European Journal of Immunology (Impact Factor: 4.2), Frontiers in Pharmacology (Impact Factor: 5.4) Journal of Biological Chemistry (Impact Factor: 4.3) and International Journal of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (Impact Factor: 3.9). Though, she is working on role of cyclic nucleotide signalling in the cell cycle regulation of a protozoan parasite Leishmania, her recent research interest also includes understanding the role of cyclic nucleotide signalling in cancer stem cells and targeting cancer stem cells with cyclic nucleotide-dependent phosphodiesterase inhibitors.
