About

Ajit Pratap Singh is currently working as a Senior Professor of Civil Engineering and Dean Admissions and Student Financial Aid at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. He has also worked as Academic-Undergraduate Studies Division (AUGSD), Dean (Admissions) and Dean (Instruction Division) at BITS Pilani, Rajasthan, India. He has more than 30 years of teaching and research experience in the area of sustainable water resources management, hydraulics, and water resources engineering with a special focus on surface water-quality modeling and advanced computer applications: water quality and quantity assessment, water pollution analysis, solid waste management, prediction and management of surface waters, and groundwater contaminant transport modeling, climate change, pavement management systems, soft computing techniques, fuzzy-based decision making, and simulation and modeling.
Prof. Singh has published more than 125 research papers in different Journals and International conference proceedings in his area of interest. He is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), Fellow of Indian Association of Hydrologists (FIAH), Member of the International Water Association, Society of Hydraulics, Indian Association for Solid Waste Management (IASWM), Indian Water Works Association (IWWA), and Institution of Public Health Engineers, India and Member of Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS), etc.
Prof Singh has guided nine doctoral Thesis and over 50 Master’s Dissertations/Thesis and currently guiding 4 Ph.D. scholars in research areas of real-life importance. Prof Singh has also evaluated 19 Ph.D. Thesis. He has completed a sponsored project on socio-economic assessment of construction of rural roads in India and working on two ongoing projects in water resources engineering and societal development. He has also been actively involved in various consultancy projects related to water quality assessment, water pollution analysis, prediction and management of surface waters, groundwater contaminant transport modeling, traffic safety of National highways, etc. He is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), Fellow of Indian Association of Hydrologists (FIAH), member of Indian Society of Hydraulics, Indian Water Works Association (IWWA), and Institution of Public Health Engineers, India, and Member of Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS), Japan, etc. He has been actively involved in reviewing various research papers submitted in his field to more than 35 Journals of International and National repute.
Dr. Singh is also a member of the Senate and many Board of Studies at different Universities, Member of Research Board/Doctoral Advisory Committees, Advisory committee member of University Grant Commission, Expert Member in Public Service Commissions of Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Expert Selection Committee member of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, third-party expert for various projects under JNNURM, PMGSY, PWD, NHAI, PCI verification schemes funded by Central and state governments, working group expert member of National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee, Coordinator, PTA (PMGSY roads), Rajasthan state, National Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (NRIDA), Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, New Delhi, etc. University Grant Commission, New Delhi had also appointed him as an External Member of Advisory Committee, Special Assistance Programme (SAP), UGC, New Delhi.
Prof. Singh is also working as one of the expert members of the State Environment Appraisal Committee (SEAC) for Rajasthan state nominated by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India in consultation with the State Government (Gazette of India no. 230411). He has also worked as the commissioner/member of the high-powered committee/monitoring committee appointed by the Hon’ble National Green Tribunal, New Delhi, to assess environmental quality status in different rivers and industrial clusters.
Prof. Singh applies engineering concepts with a sound mathematical foundation to maintain a high-quality environment in a sustainable and cost-efficient manner and share the knowledge through his teaching, training programs, workshops, and quality publications.
