About

Prof (Dr) Anita Malhotra is an alumnus of Lady Irwin College and a PhD in Nutrition from University of Delhi. Has specialized training in Adolescent Health, Research Methodology, Monitoring and Evaluation of Population, Health and Nutrition Programs and Specialist Certification of Obesity Professional Education.

Dr Malhotra has been a a former Professor and has more than 40 years of teaching experience at Lakshmibai College University of Delhi and her areas of interest include non-communicable diseases (obesity, MAFLD), celiac disease and gluten free diet, adolescent, maternal and child nutrition, and monitoring and evaluation of nutrition programmes. She is/has been PI/Co-PI of six DST-SEED, ICMR,UGC, DU and IIPA funded projects, has guided 5 PhD in DU (plus 3 ongoing PhD supervision) and 7 MSc scholars, has participated in 90 conferences and presented papers at national/ international level (USA, Canada, UK, Spain, Japan, China, Ireland, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Thailand). Has more than 40 research publications in Scopus/PubMed indexed journals (1300+ citations, h index-17, i10 index -25), textbooks for undergraduates (Pearson), course material for MSc (Vikas Publishing House) and chapters in books. She is a peer reviewer for reputed journals (Wiley, Springer Nature, Cambridge University Press and Elsevier.

She has been an active member for development of evidence-based guidelines for management of obesity among women (AIIMS-DST initiative), development and validation of CD-CAT tool for assessing adherence to gluten-free diet in patients with celiac disease, and a long-serving member of Scientific Panels on Cereals as well as Spices at FSSAI. At state level, she has been a nutrition expert at Directorate of Education and Department Women and Child Development at Delhi government. and a member, State Nutrition Council, GNCTD. She has been a nutrition panelist on TV and has organized several seminars/ workshops, funded by UGC, ICSSR and IIPA on nutrition, health, media, women and consumer awareness.

Prof Malhotra was awarded scholarship by Howard Foundation,UK (2011), Developing Country Sponsorship Award,IUFoST Montreal (2014), Meritorious Lecturer award by Delhi govt (2016), LBSNAA nominated Domain expert for “PM Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2014.

She has been a professional expert at Academic Council, SNDT University, Mumbai, Vice President AFST(I) Delhi, Vice President, UWAD , and is a life member of World Obesity, NSI, IDA, AFST(I), AIAARO, IFUWA and member ISSCD,
