About
I am a physician-scientist specializing in enteric infections and vaccine research among children under five in low- and middle-income countries.
My research focuses on the etiology and burden of diarrheal diseases among children under five using molecular diagnostic tools, with a particular focus on the molecular epidemiology, immune responses, and vaccine responses to rotavirus and Shigella in India. I have evaluated the performance of indigenous rotavirus vaccines following their introduction into the national immunization program and examined the influence of breast milk components and the infant microbiome on vaccine response through longitudinal mother–infant cohort studies. I also contribute to WHO-supported pediatric diarrheal surveillance initiatives and serve as laboratory lead for rotavirus reference activities in the WHO SEARO region, integrating field epidemiology and molecular diagnostics to inform immunization policy and child health programs.
