About
Harsh Mathur is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) COFUND fellow under the DSTrain programme and has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Rosseland Centre for Solar Physics, University of Oslo, since 2025. He completed his Ph.D. in Solar Physics at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, where his doctoral research focused on inferring the stratification of magnetic fields in the solar chromosphere using high spatial- and spectral-resolution observations.
He has extensively employed non-LTE inversion codes and numerical simulations to interpret spectro-polarimetric observations. His research also incorporates machine-learning techniques in solar data analysis, including k-means clustering for efficient feature detection in imaging and spectro-polarimetric datasets. In addition, he has developed supervised deep-learning models to map observable quantities to 3D MHD atmospheric models, enabling significantly faster interpretation compared to traditional non-LTE radiative transfer approaches.
Harsh is proficient in Python scripting, C/C++, data reduction and statistical analysis, data visualization, and the preparation of detailed scientific reports and peer-reviewed publications.
