Over 18 years of professional experience in public, private, and corporate environments, across diverse functional areas ranging from IT & GIS to Conservation, with a predominant focus on conservation and non-profit sector. Deeply involved in using multiple research and technology tools to bring improvements in natural resource management, conservation, and sustainable development domains.
A goal-oriented individual with strong leadership, mentoring, and intrapreneurship capabilities to align the team with the vision and agenda of the organization. Highly organized and motivated for the cause and detail-directed problem-solver. an amiable team player, capable of working in unison at all levels with staff, volunteers, and the board of directors.
Proven ability to direct complex technology projects from conceptualization to operationalization and M&E. experienced in deftly managing external stakeholders, such as governments, forest departments, NGOs, and research institutes, for biodiversity conservation and protection of their critical habitats through on-ground activities and policy advocacy.
I'm the recipient of the Carl Zeiss Award for Wildlife Conservation and an avid bird photographer, with more than 1,000 images appearing in international publications. I hold an MSc in Ecology, a BE in Computer Engineering, and currently pursuing my Ph.D. in "Modeling shifts in avian distribution under climate change scenarios for prioritizing conservation areas.". My research uses Big Data computation to model historic, current, and predicted shifts in avian distribution under climate change scenarios to prioritize conservation areas.
I have a special interest in Natural History and basically, a technocrat trying to find ways technology can get me closer to my true passion: wildlife and nature. I aim to influence the processes in the field of biodiversity conservation using cutting edge IT and GIS tools.
While I am not busy being a technocrat, I double as 'Bird'man with my daughter and tick off species from our list of lifers and fulfill wanderlust.
