Having 18 years of research experience in experimental “Nanoscience, Nanotechnology and their Applications”, Prof. Prashant Kr. Sharma is working as “Associate Professor” in Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad, Jh, India since 2021. Prior to this, Prof. Sharma worked as an “Assistant Professor” during 2012-2021. Dr. Sharma also worked as “Post-Doctoral Research Scientist” at ‘Nanotechnology Application Centre’, University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, India.
Prof. Sharma did his Bachelors in 2004 and Masters in Physics in the year 2006 from University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, India. In 2011, he completed his Ph.D. work from ‘Nanotechnology Application Centre’, University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, India. During his graduation and post-graduation studies, he had been awarded with several prestigious awards like National Scholarship, GB Deodhar Gold Medal for securing highest marks in M.Sc. Physics (X-Rays) Examinations, 2006, Department of Physics, University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, India etc. During his Ph.D. work, Prof. Sharma had attended many seminars and conferences and has been conferred with the “Young Scientist Award” for few occasions.
Prof. Sharma has been awarded and got felicitated by the Hon’ble Director, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad on the occasion of Institute Foundation Day for being ranked in the top 2% of scientists of the world from India in a survey conducted by Stanford University and published by Elsevier (Elsevier's Database, 2020 and 2021, for two consecutive years).
Prof. Sharma’s area of research includes identification and optimization of the synthesis methods for the development of various kinds of Advanced Functional Nanomaterials for Energy Generation & Storage (Water Splitting-HER/OER), Sensing/bio-sensing, Bio-Medical (Disease Diagnosis & Drug delivery) applications and Opto-Electronic Devices (LEDs & Solar Cells) etc. Prof. Sharma has expertise in wide range of materials characterization techniques, especially Microscopic and Spectroscopic techniques. Prof. Sharma has authored nearly 120 research papers in the journals of high repute, 21 books/book chapters and 11 Patents with h-index of 45 to his credit. Prof. Sharma has also handling 06 external projects funded by various agencies of the Government of India. He has also guided/guiding many students for their Ph.D., MSc/BTech projects.
