About
Manish Kumar obtained his Ph.D. in Population Studies (with a concentration on cognitive health among older adults), M.Phil. in Population Studies, and Master’s in Population Studies (MPS) from the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), along with a Master’s degree in Statistics from Kurukshetra University, Haryana, India. His research interests span population aging and cognitive functioning, socioeconomic inequalities and health disparities, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and hypertension, as well as maternal and child health. He has published 24 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals such as BMJ Open, The Lancet, Scientific Reports, and Nature. He possesses over five years of cumulative research experience. Most recently, he served as a Consultant at the India Health Action Trust (IHAT), focusing on qualitative data analysis using Dedoose software, theme extraction, and report writing for exemplar maternal and child health interventions. Prior to this, as a Qualitative Consultant at IIPS, he conducted in-depth interviews and field documentation across multiple states. During his tenure as an Assistant Professor at the Population Research Centre (PRC), Dharwad, he led and contributed to several Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) projects, including NHM-PIP monitoring, mHealth technology assessment, and pan-India studies on caesarean delivery practices. Notably, he has worked on nationally significant projects such as “The National Research Study on Human Trafficking in India (NRHTI),” “Assessment of Economic Costs of Diet-related NCDs,” and “Aspirational Chatra.”
