About

Dr. P. Thirunavukkarasu Periyasamy is an Assistant Professor in the School of Life Sciences at Nehru Arts and Science College, Nehru Group of Institutions, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. He has more than 10 years of research experience and over 5 years of teaching experience in the fields of microbiology, molecular virology, immunology, biotechnology, and aquaculture.

He completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Microbiology, followed by an M.Phil. in Biotechnology. He earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Virology and Immunology from National Taiwan Ocean University, Taiwan, where his research focused on host antiviral immune responses against Nervous Necrosis Virus (NNV) in marine fish. He subsequently pursued postdoctoral research at National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan, further strengthening his expertise in molecular biology, immunology, and infectious diseases.

Dr. Thirunavukkarasu's research interests include molecular virology, immunology, aquatic animal health, antimicrobial resistance, nanobiotechnology, green synthesis of nanoparticles, tissue engineering, probiotics, microbial biotechnology, and bioactive natural products. His research integrates molecular techniques, computational biology, and biotechnology to develop innovative solutions for disease prevention and sustainable applications in animal and human health.

He has published numerous research articles in reputed SCI, Scopus, and Web of Science-indexed journals and has presented his work at several national and international conferences. His scientific contributions have received recognition through international fellowships, research grants, and academic awards. He has also been involved in funded research projects, patent-related innovations, and interdisciplinary collaborations.

In addition to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, Dr. Thirunavukkarasu actively mentors student research projects and serves in several academic and administrative roles, including Board of Studies member, Research and Development Committee member, Animal Tissue Culture Laboratory In-charge, DBT Star Scheme Coordinator, Blood Donor Club Coordinator, and Production Unit Coordinator.

His long-term research vision is to advance translational biotechnology through innovative research in infectious diseases, microbial biotechnology, biomaterials, and nanomedicine while fostering international collaborations and mentoring the next generation of researchers.
