About
Serving as Plant Pathologist for 30 years, specialized in biocontrol and PGPR mediated induced systemic resistance. Developed talc-based PGPR bioformulation, chitin based microbial consortia for the management of sheath blight, blast and sheath rot of rice, banana wilt, pigeon pea wilt, pulses and oilseeds root rot. Liquid bioformulation (TNAU Pf1) with extended shelf life and Liquid bioformulation of (Bbv 57) were developed to suit the drip irrigation in horticulture crops against the fungal-nematode complex. Differentially expressed novel genes and proteins were deposited in EST, Genbank for Tri-partite interactions between host, pathogen and PGPR in rice. Obtained 23 & 25 externally funded research projects as PI & Co-PI from various funding agencies like DBT, DST, ICAR, SDF, CDB, NHM and private companies like Syngenta, Rallis India, Bayer crop science, Coromandel International, GRM International-Australia to the tune of Rs. 853 Lakhs.
Guided 9 PG students and 6 Ph.D. students and all the students have been provided with fellowships from externally funded schemes of DBT, DST and CSIR, India. Disseminated technologies on disease management with biocontrol agents through training to the woman self-help groups, agricultural officers of Afghan nationals through FAO, Scientists from various underdeveloped countries through IPM-CRSP-USA, extension functionaries, input dealers and field-level workers. Received 9 Awards and Medals in recognition to my contribution in the field of Biological Control
