Dr. Karthik Kannan is working as a Postdoctoral Fellow (2023 – present), in the Chemical Sciences Department, Ariel University, Israel; Distinguished Adjunct Faculty at Saveetha Institute of Technical and Medical Sciences, India; as an Associate Science and Technical Advisor at Australian Center for Sustainable Development Research & Innovation (ACSDRI), South Adelaide, Australia. Prior to joining Ariel University, Dr. Karthik Kannan was a Brain Pool Postdoctoral Fellow (2021-2022) at Kumoh National Institute of Technology, Republic of Korea, as researcher at Green H2 system Co. Ltd., Gumi-si, Republic of Korea, and a postdoctoral fellow (2019-2020) at Qatar University, Qatar.
He serves on the editorial boards of multiple Scopus-indexed journals, including PLOS One, Microbial Biotechnology, Advanced Manufacturing: Polymer and Composite Sciences, Frontiers in Energy Research, Hydrogen, Progress in Physics of Metals, Current Nanoscience, Current Materials Science, Energy Engineering, Journal of Polymer Materials, Journal of Energy and Sustainability, and ChemEngineering. He is also the Lead Guest Editor for special issues in Nano Express, Materials, and Hydrogen.
Dr. Karthik Kannan has an extensive publication record with over 170 peer-reviewed research articles, accumulating more than 8042 citations (Google Scholar, November 2025), with an h-index of 57 and an i10-index of 123. He has also published an Indian patent, over 20 book chapters, and 10 conference proceedings. In addition, he is the editor of the Royal Society of Chemistry-sponsored book “2D Nanomaterials for CO2 Conversion into Chemicals and Fuels”, as well as “Novel Energy Storage and Conversion Technologies for Two-Dimensional MXenes and MBenes & Chalcogenide-Based Materials for Optoelectronics, Energy, and Sustainability” with IGI Global Scientific Publishing, New York NY, USA.
His research in materials science, energy storage, electrocatalysis, and sustainable technologies has earned him global recognition. Notably, Stanford University has listed him among the World’s Top 2% Scientists for six consecutive years (2020–2025), with distinction in both single-year and career-long impact rankings (1960–2023).
