GARGI RAKSHIT
India Meteorological Department, Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics, University of Calcutta, West Bengal University of Technology
About
I have done my doctoral thesis on Radio Wave Propagation and Remote Sensing in 2021 under the supervision of Prof. Animesh Maitra at the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics, University of Calcutta. Presently, I am working as Scientist at the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India. During my doctoral and post-doctoral research, I have carried out a comprehensive investigation on millimeter-wave propagation over earth space paths, atmospheric gravity waves, atmospheric processes involving precipitation micro-structure, convective activities, and aerosol environment.
During the course of my research work, I have gained extensive experience in handling, operating, and maintenance of different ground-based instruments such as microwave radiometer (RPG-HATPRO), Ka-band micro rain radar, disdrometer, laser precipitation monitor, optical rain gauge, aethalometer, multi-wavelength radiometer, Ku-band signal receiver systems, automatic weather station, and electric field mill. I have also used NWP, Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM), Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM), Cloud-Aerosol Lidar, and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observation (CALIPSO), and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data in my research work. I have useful experience in MATLAB programming that is required for the analysis of large volumes of data and modeling purposes.
