About
Currently, I am working as a Senior Assistant Professor (Grade I) and Programme Chair (Mechanical) at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Bhopal.
I obtained my Ph.D degree in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology (Specialization: Aerospace propulsion, Experimental fluid dynamics) from Energy Department at Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI), Italy on 19/04/2017, under Prof. Fabio Cozzi (Supervisor) and Prof. Aldo Coghe (Co-Supervisor), M.Tech from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal in July-2013 in Thermal Engineering and B.E. from Lakshmi Narain College of Technology (LNCT), Bhopal in June 2010 in Mechanical Engineering.
Prior to joining VIT Bhopal, I worked on a project sponsored by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), India in the Department of Energy Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay as a Senior Project Research Scientist. In this project, I was working on factors influencing the market for sustainable solar solutions in rural India based on users and providers perspectives by using statistical tool and modeling techniques. The objective of my research was to develop a successful market-driven sustainable energy-ecosystem for remote rural areas. I have also served as a team leader of the research group from April-2018 in Solar Urja through Localization for Sustainability (SoULS) project and also worked on other sponsored projects i.e., Energy and Economic Growth (EEG) related to super-efficient appliances collaboration with University of California, Berkeley, USA and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, USA and TATA Research project collaboration with Boston College, USA under SoULS umbrella.
I have worked as an Assistant Professor (on contract) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jalandhar for a very short span .
A large portion of my research interest is dedicated towards understanding the phenomena of Vortex Breakdown and Precessing Vortex Core (PVC) in swirling burner. The objective of my research was to characterize the behavior of a laboratory swirl burner for different swirl intensity and Reynolds number under isothermal conditions for both unconfined and confined regions by using stereoscopic PIV. The aim of this study was to achieve a better understanding of the dynamics of isothermal swirling jets undergoing vortex breakdown. The other portion devoted towards Internal Combustion Engine, CFD, Rural electrification and Renewable energy.
