About

Summary
My name is Arijit De, an expert in Satellite Communication, Radio wave propagation, Wireless Communication, Signal processing, Data analysis, Simulation etc. I have around 9 years of Research experience. I consider myself as someone serious and motivated who would like to have the chance to show their different strengths and qualities. I want to associate myself with an Organization wherein I can utilize my technical and interpersonal skills in contributing effectively towards the growth of the organization that offers me professional growth while being resourceful and flexible.
Research Experience
Completed Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. Animesh Maitra in INSTITUTE OF RADIO PHYSICS AND ELECTRONICS, University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India. Joined as a Junior Research Fellow from 1 January, 2016 in a project, “Atmospheric Studies in the Geophysically sensitive Tropical to Sub-tropical transition region with ST Radar Facilities at Calcutta University” funded by DST, SERB, India.
PH.D. TOPIC: Propagation Studies On Rain And Cloud Attenuation And Tropospheric Scintillations In Tropical Region.
Scope of the PhD: The thesis is focused on the propagation of satellite signals at frequencies greater than 10 GHz in the tropical region, mainly concerning propagation impairments, namely, rain attenuation, cloud attenuation, depolarization, and scintillations. Statistical analysis and signal processing of data has also been performed. To propose a technique to estimate the diversity gain from the rain decay parameter obtained from rain attenuation and rain rate measurements. I acquired valuable experience in handling ground-based instruments like Ku-band Satellite Receiving Systems, Microwave Radiometer, Micro Rain Radar, Disdrometer etc.
Major topics covered during PhD: Statistical propagation channel modeling, signal processing, Atmospheric Microwave propagation, Tropospheric effects on microwave signal propagation, Acquaintances with various ground-based instruments and data processing, like satellite receiving system, microwave radiometer, disdrometer, rain gauge, laser precipitation monitor, micro rain radar, Long-term statistics, Programing in MATLAB environment.
Postdoctoral Research:
1. Worked as Postdoctorate in the project “Characterization and simulation of the tropospheric propagation channel at Ka and Q/V bands using physical deterministic models from data collected in the GSAT-14 propagation campaign”, funded by CNES/ ONERA, The French Aerospace Lab, Toulouse, France for the period October, 2021-March, 2023, under the guidance of Dr. Laurent Castanet.
2. Working as a Postdoctorate in the project “Characterization of atmospheric channel by numerical weather prediction models, radiative transfer algorithms and ground-terminal data for Satellite Communications from Ka up to W band.”, funded by Department of Information engineering, electronics and Telecommunication, Sapienza University, Rome, Italy for the period December, 2023-December, 2024, under the guidance of Dr. Marianna Biscarini.
Major topics: Signal processing, Radio wave propagation and atmospheric models, Post processing of satellite data, Microwave Radiometry, Microwave systems and meteorological measurements, Study of millimetre wavelengths for satellite link, ITU-R model, Uplink power control adaptive code modulation, Gateway site diversity etc.
Other research interests apart from PhD and Postdoc: Application of machine learning and artificial intelligence in wireless communication, Antenna simulation, Simulation tools, MIMO, 5G, IoT, Remote Sensing of earth atmosphere, Satellite earth observation, Google earth engine, GIS technique, Big data analysis etc. I am planning to start work in the domain of cognitive radio, RIS, and medical image processing.
Future collaboration planning: Presently I am working in research collaboration with some leading Universities from Europe, Asia, and Africa. Some of them are University of Pristina, Technology University of Malaysia, University of Vigo etc. I am planning to collaborate more with different Universities of India, and abroad..
Future Research and academic planning:
1. Submission of project proposal for research, and lab set-up.
2. Collaboration with Universities and research labs for research work.
3. Visit to different laboratories, and to take participation in faculty exchange programs.
4. To build relationship with different universities for student exchange program.
5. To set-up advance laboratories.
6. To guide Masters, and PhD students.
7. To arrange Conference, student paper contest etc.
8. Industry-University collaboration.
9. To motivate students for start-up planning.
