About
I did my master degree in Environmental science with specialization in NRM and PhD degree in Environmental Science from Doon University, India. Since 2014, I am working on conservation of threatened vultures in North India and in 2016, I have
been awarded the Future Conservationist Award by Conservation Leadership Programme. Since then, I been awarded with several conservation grant awards for vulture conservation by the Rufford Foundation, MBZ Species Conservation Fund, Oriental Bird Club, Wildlife Trust of India and has also worked under the RSPB funded projects. Beside vulture conservation actions, I work on Human-Wildlife Conflict, Wildlife monitoring, Biodiversity assessment, Biodiversity conservation, community based conservation, Forest ecology, Water issues, Wetland ecosystem, Himalayan Mountains, Climate change, Traditional knowledge systems and Capacity building training to different stakeholders on forest, biodiversity and wildlife management. Since the last 10 years, I worked with several conservation organizations including the WWF-India, GIZ, HISER Society, State Biodiversity Boards and State forest & wildlife departments among the others in and around Corbett National Park & Tiger Reserve, Rajaji Tiger Reserve, Gangotri National Park, Asan Conservation Reserve, Nandhaur Wildlife Sanctuary and in many Non-PAs in different states of India. Currently, I am serving as the Chairman/Head of Barangal Gram Panchayat, a Rural Local Body under the Panchayati Raj & Rural development Department, Govt. of Uttarakhand, where I have initiated several activities in order to achieve SDGs at local level. I am also a Member of IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA), IUCN Commission on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy (CEESP) and IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM) for the year 2021-2025.
