About
Dr Vijay P. Kanawade is a Research Scientist at the Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre (CARE-C), The Cyprus Institute, Cyprus. Dr Kanawade holds a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Leicester, UK, and specialises in atmospheric new particle formation, aerosol–cloud–climate interactions, and air quality.
Dr Kanawade's research integrates field measurements, satellite observations, and modelling to investigate aerosol processes in diverse environments, particularly across South Asia. Dr Kanawade has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles, including in Nature Geoscience, Nature Communications, and Environmental Science & Technology, and has led or contributed to several national and international research projects funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), and the Research Council of Finland, among others.
In 2023, Dr Kanawade was awarded the prestigious SERB Science and Technology Award for Research (SERB-STAR), recognising outstanding performance by Principal Investigators of SERB projects. Dr Kanawade serves on the Committee for Nucleation and Atmospheric Aerosols (CNAA), is an Editorial Advisory Board member of Atmospheric Environment: X, and has organised international scientific symposia.
