About

I work as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Studies at the University of Delhi. My core research expertise lies at the intersection of biogeochemistry and hydrogeochemistry. My research group explores chemical processes in sedimentary, coastal, aquatic and groundwater ecosystems. Before joining the University of Delhi in 2021, I served as an Assistant Professor at the Central University of Rajasthan for six years.
I earned my PhD, M.Phil., and M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences from the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi. My doctoral research specifically decoded biogeochemical processes within the complex sedimentary environments of the Sundarban Mangrove ecosystem across India and Bangladesh. My lab has secured major research funding from national and international agencies. These include the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF-DST), the United Nations University (Japan), and the Institution of Eminence- University of Delhi. My recent projects focus on the biogeochemical transformation of nitrogen species, contaminant co-occurrence in aquifers, and the evolution of saline playa lakes in semi-arid zones. I have published over 35 peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters in high-impact international journals like Science of the Total Environment, Geoscience Frontiers, and Marine Pollution Bulletin. I was a member of the 5th Indian Scientific Expedition to the Southern Ocean in 2010 and was awarded the NAMS&T-ZMT Bremen (Germany) Fellowship in 2012.
