About
I am a biotechnologist specialized in biomedicine, biochemistry and molecular biology, mainly focused on the oncology area.
During my MSc and PhD I was involved in the research of colorectal cancer, principally investigating the role of the small GTPase RHOA and the role of the myosin MYO6 in the progression of this disease. Furthermore I also collaborated in other projects aiming to elucidate the function of other proteins (EPHA3, EPHB3) in colorectal cancer.
Therefore, I acquired a wide range of molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, western-blot, DNA sequencing, primer designing, cloning, CRISPR/Cas9 technology, enzymatic assays, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and flow cytometry), as well as, a good handling for cell culturing (mammalian cells, intestinal organoids, stable and transient transfections, lentiviral infections, tet on/off inducible cell line systems for protein overexpression/knockdown) and in vitro experiments (use of cytostatics, drug sensitivity, proliferation, migration, invasion, differentiation and polarization, colony formation in an adherent substrate or in soft agar). Moreover, I developed high competency for mouse manipulation (colony management and maintenance, subcutaneous and intraperitoneal drug administration, models to study cancer (subcutaneous xenografts, PDX, lung and liver metastasis models, orthotopic models in the cecum)) and for the study of clinical data (acquisition of patient clinical data and analysis of tissue microarrays).
Currently, in my postdoctoral stage, I am involved in the identification of novel therapeutic approaches for lung cancer patients presenting KRAS mutations. Moreover, we are paying great attention to the concurrent mutations that usually appear in patients with KRAS driven tumors (LKB1, p53, and KEAP1) in order to develop more personalized treatments.
I have a total of 9 publications. All of them are in Q1, 2 of them are in D1 and 2 of them in TOP 3. I have 129 citations and the average of citations per year in the last 5 years (not including the 2020), is 18. My H index is 6.
