About

Dr. Ramesh Kumar Singh is an electrochemist specializing in electrocatalysis, fuel cells, electrolyzers, green hydrogen technologies, ion-exchange membranes, and advanced electrochemical energy-conversion systems. His research focuses on the development of high-performance, durable, and cost-effective materials and interfaces for sustainable energy technologies-Fuel cells, Electrolyzers, and Metal-air batteries.

Dr. Singh received a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry from the Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), India, in 2008. After that, he completed an M.Sc.–Ph.D. dual degree from the Department of Energy Science and Engineering at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), India, in 2016 under the guidance of Prof. Manoj Neergat.

During his Ph.D., Dr. Singh developed expertise in electrochemistry, oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), and low-platinum electrocatalysts for fuel-cell applications. A significant component of his doctoral research involved the use of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) to investigate electrified electrode/electrolyte interfaces and understand the fundamental electrochemical processes governing catalyst layer performance.

Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Singh undertook two postdoctoral research appointments in Israel, first at Ariel University and subsequently at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Over approximately six years, he contributed to and led several high-end research projects involving urea electrocatalysis, anion-exchange membrane fuel cells, hydrogen oxidation reaction, and ORR. He also served as a Visiting Scientist at the Institut Charles Gerhardt Montpellier (UMR CNRS 5253), Montpellier, France, through the French–Israeli CNRS–MOST research collaboration program during the postdoc at Technion.

Since June 2022, Dr. Singh has been serving as an Assistant Professor at the CO₂ Research and Green Technologies Centre, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, India. At VIT, his research focused on developing advanced materials and electrochemical technologies for green hydrogen production, fuel cells, electrolyzers, and sustainable energy conversion.

Dr. Singh's research has been published in several internationally recognized journals in the fields of energy, catalysis, materials science, and electrochemistry:
