About
Dr Mohammed Firoz currently serves as an Associate professor at the National Institute of Technology Calicut, India. He had earlier served as a a visiting Faculty at the Asian Institute of Technology Bangkok, Thailand and at the School of Architecture, Architecture Association ( AA) London. He also served as the Associate Dean (Student welfare) of the university for 5 years. Dr. Firoz graduated from NIT Calicut as a university rank holder, completed his post-graduation in Urban and Regional Panning from CEPT university, a postgraduate Diploma in Urban Environment Management and Law from the National Law University, Delhi. India and PhD degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. His fields of interest include Metropolitan and Regional planning, Sustainable development of cities and settlements, Peri Urban studies, Environmental Management, Quality of life and Livability in urban areas & Socioeconomic development of Cities and Urban design etc.
Dr. Firoz has been teaching NIT Calicut since July 2004 for undergraduate, post graduate & PhD students. He is actively involved in research, publishing as well as consultancy and university services. His works are published in reputed journals like Land Use Policy, Urban Climate, Journal of Urban Management etc., to name a few. He is associated with reputed publishers like Springer Nature, Elsevier, Taylor and Francis, etc. as an author and reviewer. He is also in the Editorial board of the Journal Area Development and Policy of the Publisher Taylor and Francis.’ He is passionate about travelling and has visited several places in India and abroad and wishes to visit most of the remaining world sooner or later.
