About

This is Devesh Shukla, Ph.D. After receiving his M.S. in Biotechnology in 2005, he began research in the field of plant molecular biology, tissue culture & transformation. He worked on molecular aspects of plant interactions with heavy metals and nutrients. In 2012, he was awarded a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Lucknow and the CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute in Lucknow, India. From 2012-to 13, he worked as a research associate at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in New Delhi. Where he worked on the characterization of rice heterotrimeric G proteins for abiotic stress tolerance. In August 2013, he began working as a Post Doctoral Research Associate at Western Kentucky University's Department of Biology in Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA. He expanded his research on plant-nutrient interactions by working on two projects at WKU. He researched plant responses to varying levels of phosphate as part of a USDA-funded project to develop molecular strategies for enhancing phosphate uptake efficiency. In the second NSF-funded research, he investigated the In-Planta production of gold nanoparticles as an eco-friendly green engineering solution. This research will lead to the creation of an efficient approach for gold nanoparticle production. He returned to India and worked as a Consultant at the Institute for Industrial Development in Lucknow, as well as other Institutes and Agro-Industries. After that, he returned to academia as a project scientist at the CSIR National Botanical Research Institute in Lucknow, where he worked on metabolic engineering for secondary plant products. He recently accepted a tenured job as a Senior Technical Officer & Assistant Professor at the CSIR Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP), Lucknow, where he is researching to develop new plant technologies.
