Dr. Divya P. Kumar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, JSS Medical College, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysore, Karnataka, India. She is the awardee of the prestigious Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship from the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. Dr. Kumar pursued her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) under the mentorship of Dr. Arun J. Sanyal and Dr. Murthy Karnam at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, USA. She obtained her postdoctoral training in Dr. Arun Sanyal’s lab, supported by a T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA.

The “Liver Metabolism and Diseases' group of Dr. Divya P. Kumar primarily focuses on basic, clinical, and translational research on liver diseases and metabolic health.

Focus areas:
• Understanding the molecular pathogenesis of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)
• Unraveling the molecular links between inflammation and cancer in MASH-associated HCC
• Characterizing the mechanisms underlying the pathophysiology of HCC
• Exploring the molecular link contributing to osteoporosis and sarcopenia in MASLD
• Preclinical studies on MASLD and HCC
