About

Md. Jamal Uddin’s began is PhD in Glasgow in September 2022 with overarching objective of development and evaluation of a country adapted version of home based cardiac rehabilitation intervention (Heart Manual) for patients in coronary heart disease in Bangladesh. His main supervisor is Professor Rod Taylor and co-supervisors are Professor Dr. SM Saidur Rahman Mashrekhy and Dr. Mithila Faruque, Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS).
Jamal graduated in Physiotherapy in 2007 and then he completed his MPH in noncommunicable diseases from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2010. He has been working as senior chest physiotherapist and lead cardiac rehabilitation for more than 12 years at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital & Research Institute, Dhaka. He is actively involved with the International Council of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (ICCPR) and has been a part of various projects on cardiac rehabilitation globally (e.g. development of an international cardiac rehabilitation registry). He has been awarded in 2018 international attendee scholarship from American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) for his outstanding contribution in the field of cardiac prevention and rehabilitation in Bangladesh. He is an expert group member of World Health Organization (WHO), for the development of coronary heart disease rehabilitation intervention. He was a guest researcher of the Danish Knowledge Centre for Rehabilitation and Palliative Care (REHPA), Denmark between 2014 and 2019. He is closely involved with the (ACROSS) Affordable Cardiac Rehabilitation: an Outreach Inter-disciplinary Strategic Study research project. He has a experience of systematic review and meta-analysis methods and research interest includes transformation of research knowledge into the practice and the adaptation of evidence based intervention and implementation of health research to a new context. Apart from research, he is interested in traveling, cooking standard cuisine and watching and playing cricket.
