About
Senbagam Duraisamy, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Science and Humanities, at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed University). She obtained her PhD in Microbial Biotechnology from Anna University. She is ranked within the top 5% of scientists worldwide in the 2025 SciRank Global Registry. Dr. Senbagam is a recipient of the Women Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the UGC, Government of India, and has worked in the Department of Marine Biotechnology at Bharathidasan University. With 20 years of teaching and research experience, her areas of expertise include probiotics, bacteriocins, infectious diseases, and antimicrobial resistance. She has completed two research projects. She has published 70 research articles in peer-reviewed journals, authored two books, and contributed to two book chapters. She has also filed and published one patent. Furthermore, one of her co-authored publications in The Lancet, related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, was recognized by Elsevier in 2023. Among the top-cited articles in Wiley from January 2023 to December 2023 is her analysis of the main bioactive compounds in Ocimum basilicum and their antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, published in the Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry Journal.
