About
Dr. Pranab Kumar Mahata is an academician and microbiologist who knows a lot about fungal genetics, phylogeny, mycotoxicology, and nanobiotechnology. He has a B.Sc. in Zoology with honors and an M.Sc. in Microbiology. He got his PhD in microbiology from Pondicherry University (Central University) in 2023. He also passed the Life Sciences GATE and CSIR-UGC NET exams.
Dr. Mahata is an expert in several areas, including culturing fungi, using microscopes, molecular phylogenetics, SNP analysis, HPLC-based toxin detection, RNA extraction, and studying gene expression. His research is mostly about fungi that live in seeds, the diversity of fungi, how they make mycotoxins, and nanobiotechnology. He has written book chapters for Springer Nature and research articles for well-known international journals like Frontiers in Microbiology and Applied Nanoscience. He has been very involved in national and international conferences and workshops on biotechnology, bioinformatics, and microbiology.
Dr. Mahata is the Head of the Department of Microbiology at Radha Govind University in Ramgarh, India. He is also in charge of postgraduate and PhD students and reviews research papers for scientific journals. His academic interests include mycotoxicology, fungal diversity, microbial biotechnology, and the application of nanotechnology in the biological sciences.
