About

Significantly contributed in bridging gaps between chemistry, biology, computation and medical sciences. Discovered dual biomarker potential of HbA1c for glycemic control and dyslipidemia; these data were displayed in product brochures of Kissei Pharmaceuticals (Japan) and Abbott (India). Identified novel SNPs in carnitine transporter gene and discovered the role of carnitine homeostasis in heart disease. Innovative researches include the development of methods for analysis of ATP, GFAP and tyrosine hydroxylase in brain; efficient extraction of skin lipids; computer-aided quantification of gastric ulcers, immunological and toxicological response of nanomaterials, and novel therapies for cancer. Authored 2 books, 20 book chapters and >300 research articles. Deposited 210 gene sequences in GenBank and 13 SNPs in dbSNP database. Developed 8 software tools for biomedical applications. His factorial equation has been utilized by scientists from Emory University, USA and Swinburne University, Australia for creating their own bioinformatics tools. Recipient of Microsoft eScience award.
