Dr. Gopal Chandra Shit currently holds the position of Professor in Applied Mathematics at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He earned his Master's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 2001 and subsequently completed his Ph.D. at Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 2008, specializing in the field of Biofluid Dynamics. Throughout his career, Dr. Shit has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and honours. Notably, he was awarded the BOYSCAST Fellowship in 2010 by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. As part of this fellowship, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Paris XII, France, from 2010 to 2011. He has also undertaken academic visits to the United Kingdom, Spain, and Germany.
Furthermore, Dr. Shit was awarded a fellowship jointly by the Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc.), Indian National Science Academy (INSA), and National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), Government of India, for post-doctoral research work at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
His research contributions are reflected in his publication record, which includes 135 research papers in esteemed international journals published by Cambridge University Press (J. Fluid Mech.) , the American Institute of Physics (AIP) (Phys. Fluids), Elsevier, Springer, World Scientific, Wiley Interscience, and Taylor & Francis.
His research interests encompass a broad spectrum of topics, including Biofluid Mechanics, Boundary Layer Theory, Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Heat and Mass Transfer, and Bioheat Transfer in living tissue.
