About
Dr. Sumit Kumar Hira, has extensive experience in tumor Immunology with publications in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Hira, has done PhD thesis in Immunobiology of dendritic (DC) cells in lymphoma and leukemia from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. Dr. Hira, has been extensively trained in various branches of immunology like transplantation immunology, tumor immunology and T cell biology during his doctoral training in Banaras Hindu University. Dr. Hira, has also obtained expertise in cell signaling with major emphasis on TNF-superfamily ligands and STAT, during the doctoral training in Banaras Hindu University. Dr. Hira, has established a Laboratory within the department at the Burdwan University for research purposes with minimum facilities. Over the last six years as an independent researcher Dr. Hira, have been prioritizing his research in multiple areas of modern biology like Tumor Immunology, Infectious Disease, and Nanomedicine. He has successfully completed three extramural research project in the field of tumor immunology and two more projects is under implementation in the area of Dendritic cell immunology and Nanomedicine. In Tumor Biology, PI have been working on the role of Dendritic cells (DC) and Natural Killer (NK) cells and important biomolecules like TNF superfamily ligands (TNF-α, TRAIL etc) against experimental murine lymphoma (Dalton’s Lymphoma, DL).
