About
Dr. Kelly Rose is currently serving as the U.S. Dept. of Energy's, Genesis Data Research & Development Lead, through the Office of Science. Rose has served the DOE for over 22 years as a researcher, and most recently as the Senior Fellow for Computational Science & Engineering, at the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). She is a strategic leader who integrates domain expertise with AI/ML, advanced computing, and data science to solve complex energy technology and security challenges.
Throughout her career, Dr. Rose has held key roles in DOE initiatives such as the Genesis Mission. She also founded significant NETL R&D capabilities, including the laboratory’s geo-data science research group, and spearheaded the development of the Energy Data eXchange® (EDX), NETL’s data curation and AI-enhanced R&D platform. Additionally, she served as the first Technical Director of NETL's Science-based AI/ML Institute (SAMI).
With over 25 years of experience, her professional portfolio includes more than 150 products, ranging from award-winning data and models to peer-reviewed publications. She is also deeply committed to mentoring future STEM leaders. Dr. Rose holds a Ph.D. from Oregon State University, an M.S. from Virginia Tech, and a B.S. from Denison University.
