About
I have received my Bachelor’s degree in Physics (Hons.) from faculty of science, BHU, Varanasi, India and completed my Master degree MSc. in Advanced Spectroscopy and Laser Sciences from Department of Physics, BHU, Varanasi, India. During my MSc. Physics dissertation projects on laser light scattering with platelets and unzipping DNA, I got my interest towards clinical and biological challenges. After qualifying national exams, I have changed my subject for higher studies and joined the Molecular Biology Unit, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi for Ph.D. with Prof. J.V. Medicherla where I have carried out structural and biophysical studies of various proteins from natural source. My active interest in structure function relationship in crucial enzymes led me to get additional training from different laboratories under mentorship of Prof. David W. Rice, University of Sheffield, UK (2007); Prof B.W. Dijkstra, University of Groningen, The Netherlands (2008) and Prof. Petri Kursula at University of Oulu, Finland (2009). I have received travel fellowship by Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds (BIF) Germany in 2007, 2008 and 2009. During Finland visit, I have worked on pro-apoptotic serine/threonine kinases called death-associated protein kinase (DAPK) and solved the three-dimensional structure of DAPK2 which provides a platform for further elucidation of DAPK2 function during programmed cell death. I have worked as postdoctoral research fellow with Prof. Gregory Bowman in Department of Biophysics, Johns Hopkins University, USA during 2009-2013 where I have worked on chromatin remodelling. The best training I have received by Prof Gregory bowman in area of chromatin biology, learnt a lot in structural biology, biochemistry and molecular biology. In 2014, I have joined as an Assistant Professor in Kusuma School of Biological Sciences, IIT Delhi. Since 2021, I have been working as an Associate Professor in Kusuma school of Biological Sciences, IIT Delhi.
