About
Dr. Subhash Chandra is currently an Assistant Professor of Economics specializing in teaching and research at the School of Gender and Livelihoods, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Hyderabad off-Campus. He has close to three years of teaching experience at the undergraduate and master’s levels. Prior to his tenure at TISS, he served as an Assistant Professor (Guest Faculty) in School of Economics at the University of Hyderabad for one year and also held the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Christ University, Bangalore.
He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from the University of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, followed by M.Phil. & Ph.D. degrees in Economics from School of Economics, University of Hyderabad. Dr. Chandra has taught a range of courses, including Introduction to Economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Development Economics, Labor Economics, Urbanization and Development, Corporate Social Responsibility and Development, Gender Institutions and Economic Development, Research Methodology, and Industrialization, Globalization, and Labor, to Integrated Master’s and Master’s students.
His current research interests encompass chronic poverty, economic inequality, public policies, discrimination, and development issues. Dr. Chandra has contributed seven research papers to peer-reviewed journals, UGC CARE list, and Scopus journals, reflecting his active engagement in advancing knowledge within his field.
Dr. Chandra has been invited as a resource person to facilitate workshops and deliver guest lectures at various academic institutions, reflecting his recognized expertise and substantial pedagogical contributions to the discipline of Economics and development studies. He has actively participated in the broader academic community through multiple scholarly forums and professional platforms. He has presented research papers at both international and national seminars, thereby contributing significantly to the dissemination of contemporary economic research and advancing scholarly discourse within his discipline.
Dr. Chandra is actively engaged in research project initiatives addressing critical development and social issues. He completed the "Impact Assessment Report on Gender Sensitization in the Targeted School (2025)," which evaluates gender-sensitive interventions within educational institutions. Currently, he is leading an ongoing research project titled "Social Audit of Land Assembly Process and Livelihood Impacts for Amarawati (2025)," which investigates the socioeconomic implications of land acquisition processes and their effects on community livelihoods.
