About
Dr Hireni Mankodi born in 06.08.1967 at Ahmadabad and completed her schooling from Bombay and Surat.She has Awarded PhD in 2008, M.Text.Engg in 1992 and B.Text.Engg in 1989 done from The M.S.University of Baroda from Textile Engineering. Also did Certificate course in financial management in 1997 from same university scored first class. She has spent one year at IIT Delhi for Pre-PhD work (1999-2000). Presently she is working as Associate Prof in the Textile Engineering, Faculty of Technology and Engineering, The M.S. University of Baroda, India. She has been awarded FTA from All India Textile Association, FIE from Institute of Engineer and Career Award for Young Teacher by AICTE. She was nominated as visiting Scholar under UGC-TEC agreement in 2012 and visited Mauritius for 2 month under this scheme. Presently she is holding position as Hon. Secretary/GC member of Textile Association; Baroda unit and President of Alumni Association of Textile Engineering Department. She is recognized guide in MSU and GTU. She has also received MRP Project on textile composite from GUJCOST.
During her 30 years of academic experience, she has attended more than 100 training programs, workshops and conferences/seminar nationally and internationally and hold several honorary posts on various committees and organizations during her tenure with The M S University of Baroda and have also been the Examiner for various exams conducted by different boards and colleges. she has published over 90 paper 50 research and review paper in National and International journal out of which two papers were awarded as best paper by Institute of Engineers and Textile association of India. She have vast international exposer, visited many institute, laboratory and organization internationally. Also attended number of conference and presented paper (40 papers+3 poster) in International at different place like Manchester, London, Croatia, China, Switzerland, South Korea, Mauritius, US and Australia. The one chapter on Development in Hybrid Yarns published in Book entitled “Specialist Yarn and Fabric Structures: Developments and Applications” by Woodhead Publication, UK. She has also undertaken 15 projects in different areas of textile, of which 10 projects in field of technical textiles. Her expertise in Technical Textile and research areas include Technical Textile, Textile Composite, medical textiles, hybrid yarns, Electronic controls in textile machineries and Design consideration for Smart Garments. She is member of 7 professional associations In which she is Fellow member of Textile Association of India (FTA) and Institute of Engineer (FIT), Life member Indian Technical Textile Association (ITTA), FRP Institute (FRP), Fiber Society of India (IFS) and Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE)
Thus, some women go out, make the change and some by their actions. She has faced lots of challenges in this male dominating area and also got lots of opportunities to shape up the future of young Indians, who are the indirectly future of India. So the ambition of greatest guide in form of teacher in technical education is to provide high quality of technocrats with good management skill to contribute in industrial growth. Dr Hireni Mankodi is role model for all the women in higher education. She has put herself in international map.
