About

Surender Rao Komera received his PhD degree for his work in the broad area of empirical corporate finance. His thesis was titled as ‘Essays on Capital Structure Choice and Corporate Bankruptcy’. His research interests include capital structure choices, corporate investment policies, R&D investments, dynamics of business group ownership, price informativeness, corporate distress, corporate governance, and portfolio performance evaluation.

At present, Dr Surender works at IIM Amritsar as a faculty member in the Area of Finance, Accounting & Control. At IIM Amritsar, he teaches finance elective courses such as Investment Analysis & Portfolio Management, Corporate Valuation, and Alternative Investments. Prior to joining at IIM Amritsar, he worked at IFMR Graduate School of Business, Krea University for over five as a faculty member.

At IFMR Graduate School of Business, Dr Surender had the experience of teaching core finance courses such as Foundations of Finance and Corporate Finance. Currently, he teaches finance elective courses such as Business Valuation, Alternative Investments, and co-teach Security Analysis and Portfolio Management.

Dr Surender also offers customized management training sessions (for mid and senior level managers / consultants), focusing on the concepts of Advanced Financial Statement Analysis, Capital Budgeting, Cost of Capital Estimation, Economic Value Added and its applications, Financial Derivatives (including FRA, and swaps), and Bond Mathematics. Thus far he handled the sessions for the managers / senior managers of RBI, Barclays, L&T Construction, Murugappa, TAFE, Gmmco, etc.
