About
Gulam Muheyuddeen is an Indian pharmaceutical researcher, academic author, and medicinal chemistry scholar working in the fields of anticancer drug discovery, Neurodegenretive Disease, Naphthoquinone, Chalcones, Triazole, Caumarin derivatives hybrids, Antioxidant activity, Analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity, heterocyclic chemistry, molecular docking, and bioactive natural products. He completed his graduation and post-graduation in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University and developed a strong academic foundation in medicinal chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, and pharmacological research. His academic journey has been closely associated with advanced research in drug design, molecular hybridization, and therapeutic evaluation of novel bioactive compounds. During his early research career, he worked on phytopharmacological studies involving Lawsone and Lawsonia inermis, focusing on their antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and medicinal properties. His research interests gradually expanded toward the synthesis and biological evaluation of heterocyclic compounds with potential applications in cancer therapy and inflammatory diseases.
Gulam Muheyuddeen’s major scientific interests include anticancer drug discovery, chalcone-based medicinal chemistry, triazole and coumarin hybrid molecules, molecular docking, antioxidant evaluation, anti-inflammatory screening, and computational drug design. His proposed doctoral research focuses on the design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of novel Chalcone–Triazole–Coumarin hybrid molecules as selective multi-target anticancer agents. His research work aims to address major challenges associated with cancer treatment, including multidrug resistance, poor selectivity, Genotoxicity, systemic toxicity, and therapeutic resistance. Through molecular hybridization strategies, he seeks to develop compounds capable of targeting multiple cancer-related pathways simultaneously while improving biological efficacy, safety and Resistance.
He has authored and co-authored several scientific publications in pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry journals. One of his significant contributions appeared in Scientific Reports, where he participated in research focused on the design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of novel imidazole derivatives with analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities supported by molecular docking studies. The study investigated Schiff base-derived imidazole compounds and evaluated their pharmacological potential through both experimental and computational methods. His research collaborations have included scholars and institutions involved in medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, and interdisciplinary biomedical research.
Apart from synthetic medicinal chemistry, Gulam Muheyuddeen has contributed to review-based scientific literature discussing natural products and therapeutic phytochemicals. His publications have explored the medicinal significance of Lawsone, caffeic acid, cinnamon-derived bioactive compounds, and antioxidant phytoconstituents with potential pharmaceutical applications. His work reflects a growing interest in integrating natural product chemistry with modern medicinal chemistry approaches for the development of safer and more effective therapeutic agents. He has also shown academic interest in biosensor technologies and their role in early disease detection and pharmaceutical diagnostics.
Academically, he has been associated with pharmaceutical education and research activities linked to medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical sciences. His technical expertise includes synthetic organic chemistry, heterocyclic compound synthesis, structure-activity relationship analysis, spectral characterization, molecular docking studies, pharmacological screening, and computational evaluation of drug candidates. His long-term vision is to contribute to the discovery of innovative therapeutic molecules capable of addressing unmet medical needs in oncology and chronic inflammatory disorders. Through continuous academic research and scientific development, Gulam Muheyuddeen aims to establish himself as a dedicated researcher in the field of pharmaceutical drug discovery and medicinal chemistry.
