About
Prabhat Thakur has an extensive academic and research background in Electronics and Communication Engineering, currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Alliance School of Applied Engineering, Alliance University, Bengaluru, India. Previously, he has worked as Assistant Professor (Sr. Scale) in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Symbiosis International University, Pune, India, from December 2021-Jun. 2025. Dr. Thakur also associated as a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, University of Johannesburg, South Africa, a role he has held since February 2022. Moreover, he also worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the same university from February 2019 to December 2021. His other professional experiences include teaching at Chandigarh University and research roles at Jaypee University of Information Technology, where he worked on a project sponsored by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). He holds a Ph.D. and M. Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Jaypee University of Information Technology, with research interests in next-generation communication systems (5G/6G), Society 5.0, cognitive radio networks, Internet of Vehicles, compressive sampling, and signal processing.
Currently, his research is centered on energy and spectral efficiency, as well as interference-efficient designs for spectrum sharing in cognitive radio communication systems and the Internet of Things. Throughout his career, he has been honored with several accolades, including the Young Researcher Award by the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa, and serving as an IEEE Senior Member.
