About

I am a senior scientist at the ICAR–Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), Mandapam Regional Centre. I belong to the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) 2015 batch and the 101st Foundation Course for Agricultural Research Services (FOCARS) of ICAR. On successful completion as a scientist (trainee) at ICAR-NAARM, I joined ICAR-CMFRI, Kochi.

I am specialising in shellfish biology, breeding, taxonomy, and population dynamics and stock assessment. I obtained a Ph.D. from the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS), Kochi, and an M.F.Sc. from CMFRI, Mumbai. Graduated from the Fisheries College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Since joining CMFRI in 2015, I have contributed extensively to shellfish research, including stock assessment and the development of sustainable management strategies for shellfish resources in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, a project I have been leading since June 2022. Earlier, I worked in the Crustacean Division (2015–2022), focusing on crustacean biology and resource assessment. Also, I served as an inspector of fisheries (2013–2014) in the Department of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, where I was involved in fisheries regulation, reservoir management, and implementation of welfare schemes. I have actively participated in more than 30 in-house research projects and three externally funded projects supported by the government of Tamil Nadu.

I have published 36 research papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals, one policy paper, four book chapters, and 25 popular and technical articles. I have also conducted several trainings, workshops, awareness programmes, and seminars and developed extension materials, such as posters and leaflets. In various roles, such as coordinator, convener, team member, and resource expert, I have delivered lectures and facilitated skill development programs, effectively translating research outcomes into practical recommendations for farmers and fishery stakeholders.

I am a recipient of the Certificate of Merit (2015) at the 101st Foundation Course for Agricultural Research Service (FOCARS), conducted at ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad, and the prestigious Dr. Hiralal Chaudhuri Gold Medal (2013) for securing the first position in M.F.Sc. (Aquatic Environment Management) at ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai; and ICAR Fellowships for pursuing his M.F.Sc. programme (2011–2013) at ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai.
