About
Dr. Subhankar Chatterjee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Ecology and Environmental Sciences, School of Life Sciences, in Pondicherry University, Pondicherry, India since January 2022. Earlier he has served at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, H.P. as an Assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences from 2012-2022. He has done his Ph.D. from Bose Institute, Kolkata, and has been awarded a Ph.D. degree in Science from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, West Bengal in 2007. He is an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow, Germany, and has nearly five years of postdoctoral experience in India (Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata), Germany (Georg-August University of Goettingen, Goettingen), and the USA (University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia). He has published more than thirty research articles including book chapters in well reputed international journals in the field of environmental biotechnology/microbiology, and Microbial ecology. He is a recipient of many national and international awards and has more than twenty years of teaching and research experience. Ha has guided two Ph.D. students and more than forty M.Sc. dissertation students successfully. He has completed one CSIR EMR-project, mentored one NPDF, and is currently running a DST-SERB CRG project (as PI) and one ICMR project (as Co-PI). At present, he is working in the field of environmental pollution abatement (pesticides, phthalates, and microplastic), metabolomics, and pursuing his teaching in environmental science and ecology.
