About
Dr. Shailendra P. Singh is a senior assistant professor at the Centre of Advanced Study in Botany, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, India. He earned his PhD from the Department of Biology, Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen- Nuremberg, Germany. He conducted postdoctoral work at Plant Research Laboratory, Plant Biology, Michigan State University, USA. Before joining BHU, Dr. Singh served as a senior scientist at Algae to Oil (A2O), Reliance Industries, Mumbai, India. He is an awardee of the Early Career Research Award, DST-SERB and UGC-BSR startup grants. He is an editorial board member of several international journals. Dr. Singh’s research interests include photoprotection, genetics of sunscreens, DNA damage, oxidative stress, photosynthesis, carbon-concentrating mechanisms, developmental biology and complementary chromatic acclimation in cyanobacteria. The outcome of his research has been published in more than 100 research papers, reviews, book chapters and conference proceedings.
