About
Dr. Nandan Kumar is a technical textiles professional with a PhD and MSc from the University of Leeds, UK, and over two decades of hands-on experience spanning research, product development, and manufacturing.
As Managing Director of High Performance Textiles Pvt. Ltd. (HPT), he leads the development and spinning of advanced composite yarns using high-performance fibres — including para-aramid, meta-aramid, UHMWPE, modacrylic, FR nylon, FR viscose, PPS, and stainless steel — deploying innovative spinning technologies for demanding protective and industrial applications.
Recognising the critical gap between laboratory research and commercial-scale production, Dr. Kumar founded the Institute of Technical Textiles (ITT) — a dedicated facility for bulk-scale trials and applied product development, enabling faster translation of fibre science into manufacturable solutions.
He is the Vice-Chairman of the Indian Technical Textiles Association (ITTA), an association focused towards supporting companies interested in getting into technical textiles.
