Suman Mahapatra

About

Suman Mahapatra is an Assistant Professor of Data Science at Department of Quantitative Economics and Data Science, Birla Institute of Technology (BIT Mesra), India. He completed his Ph.D. at the Machine Intelligence Unit, Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata, with research focused on medical image analysis and histopathological image analysis. His research interests span machine learning, statistical learning, computer vision, and healthcare AI, with particular emphasis on vision-language models, multimodal learning, pathology-radiology fusion, and precision medicine. He is also interested in Bayesian and probabilistic learning, theoretical foundations of machine learning, and AI-driven analysis of biomedical and genomics data.
