About
Prof. Dr. A. Manikandan is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Centre for Material Chemistry, Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. He received his early education, including B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry, from Bharathidasan University, and an M.Phil. in Chemistry from the University of Madras. Additionally, he received a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from the University of Madras, as well as an M.Ed. and M.Phil. in Education from the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, India. He completed his Doctorate in Chemistry at the University of Madras, Tamil Nadu, India. During his Ph.D. tenure, he was awarded the CSIR–Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR-SRF) by the Government of India. Also, he has qualified for the State Eligibility Test (SET) conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu, India.
Dr. A. Manikandan has accumulated 15 years of academic experience in both teaching and research within the discipline of Chemistry. He is an active researcher in the areas of semiconductors and 2D materials for energy storage devices, supercapacitors, as well as biomedical and environmental applications. There are five research scholars who have completed their Ph.D. degree under his supervision and guidance, and five more are currently pursuing their research. He has successfully completed three research projects funded by different agencies.
Dr. A. Manikandan has published over 450 research articles in various reputed peer-reviewed international journals, contributed 15 book chapters, and edited three books with leading international publishers. According to Google Scholar, he has 18,500+ citations, an h-index of 80, and an i10-index of 260. He has received many prestigious awards, including the “Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC)”, UK and the “Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Chennai (FASCh)”. Also, listed among the Top 2% of world scientists in the field of Materials Science, as per a database released by Stanford University, USA. He visited the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore, with support from DST Travel Grant awarded by the Government of India. He has presented his research findings at various national and international conferences. He is also a life member of several scientific societies, including the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), the American Chemical Society (ACS), the Materials Research Society of India (MRSI), the Catalysis Society of India (CSI), the Academy of Sciences Chennai (FASCh), and the Raman Research Foundation (RRF), etc.
