Dr. Deepak Kumar Behera is an accomplished academic with a robust background in economics, currently serving as a Lecturer in Economics and Finance at RMIT Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City since June 2023. Prior to this, he held positions at Birla Global University, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Asian Institute of Public Health, and Indian Institute of Public Health, focusing on diverse areas within economics and health economics. Dr. Behera completed his PhD in Economics from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, furthering his academic foundation with an M.Phil in Economics from the Central University of Gujarat, and an MA in Economics from Sambalpur University.
Dr. Behera's research portfolio includes a wide array of topics such as health financing, economic globalization, public health expenditure, and socio-economic determinants of happiness. His work has been published in esteemed journals like BMJ Open, European Journal of Development Research, Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economics, and The Lancet Global Health. He has contributed significantly to understanding the fiscal dynamics and policy implications on health outcomes in low- and middle-income countries.
