About
Shubham (He/Him) is a full-time PhD scholar in the Civil Engineering Department at Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur, India. His passion for sustainable waste management stems from various projects he undertook during and after his MTech. In his current research, Shubham delves into integrated approaches for sustainable legacy waste management, focusing on processing strategies, resource utilization, and the feasibility of landfill mining. He is involved in five legacy waste mining projects: Sewapura (2 million metric tonnes [MMT]), Mathuradaspura (2 MMT), Bhilwara (0.2 MMT), Sikar (0.27 MMT), and Alwar (0.11 MMT).
During his PhD, he conducted a waste characterization study on fresh municipal solid waste (MSW) from cities with varying populations: 0.12 million (Sujangarh), 0.6 million (Udaipur), and 4 million (Jaipur). Additionally, he conducted a legacy waste characterization study at dumpsites in Jaipur. He has also contributed to organizing a municipality and academic interaction workshop on legacy waste management at MNIT Jaipur, demonstrating his commitment to knowledge exchange and collaborative initiatives in the field.
Prior to pursuing his Ph.D., he worked as a project associate at MNIT Jaipur. In this role, he coordinated closely with various teams, facilitating data sharing, discussions, and contributing to the preparation of comprehensive reports on environmental management plans and integrated solid waste management. These studies resulted in the publication of two articles related to solid waste management.
He completed his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Govind Ballabh Pant Engineering College, Pauri Garhwal (India), and MTech degree in Environmental Engineering from MNIT Jaipur. Outside of his academic pursuits, Shubham brings linguistic versatility, being fluent in English, Hindi, and Garhwali. Shubham enjoys biographies and self-help books on geopolitics, productivity, and famous personalities. He also listens to podcasts on these subjects, enhancing his understanding of global issues and personal growth.
