About
Ahmad Ozair, MD, MPH, is a neurosurgery resident at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, whose work has been cited by the World Health Organization and the World Economic Forum. He is also an affiliated research scientist in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. He is also enrolled in University of Oxford's MSc in Evidence-Based Healthcare course as a Clarendon Scholar.
Ahmad completed medical school from India (2016-2022), graduating as the first-ranked candidate in a class of 250 from one of the top ten nationally ranked medical schools. During this, he was a Khorana Scholar funded by the Government of India. He was one of the five students in the university's history (till 2022) who received all three of the most prestigious honors of the institution. He also completed a year-long postgraduate certificate in clinical research (GCSRT, http://hms.harvard.edu/gcsrt) from Harvard Post-Graduate Medical Education.
After finishing his house officership in India, he pursued a postdoctoral research fellowship (2022-2023) in neuro-oncology at the Miami Cancer Institute, under Prof. Manmeet Ahluwalia & Prof. Michael McDermott in early-phase trials, including efforts through Adult Brain Tumor Consortium. Thereafter, he moved to Johns Hopkins University to pursue an MPH, concentrating in epidemiology-biostatistics, with a graduate certificate in 'clinical trials'. Here, he was 1/14 Sommer Scholars worldwide (>100,000 USD of annual scholarship). Following this, he did a postdoctoral fellowship (2024-2025) in focused ultrasound and novel neurointerventions under Prof. Graeme Woodworth, Professor and Chair in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, after which he resumed his clinical training in neurosurgery (2025-Ongoing).
His published works span 100+ papers with 4000+ citations, with involvement in several international multi-centric studies as a co-investigator, such as EUROBACT, SYNAPSE-ICU, GNOS, COVIDSurg-Week, and COVIDPaedsCancer. He also served as part of the Workforce Workgroup for the inaugural Maryland Commission on Public Health (CoPH). Additionally, he has served as a member of several surgical guideline efforts, including SAGES/AHPBA and NASS. He currently serves as a member of Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee of the North American Spine Society (NASS).
