About
Dr. Shyamal K. Jash was born at Bolpur-Santiniketan in the district of Birbhum (West Bengal), India on January 07, 1982. He received his high school degree in science stream in 1999 at Kirnahar Shib Chandra High School under the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE). Then he moved to Visva-Bharati (a central University founded by Rabindranath Tagore at Santiniketan, West Bengal, India) to study chemistry at the undergraduate level. After graduating from this University in 2003, Dr. Jash completed his masters in 2005 with specialization in organic chemistry and thereafter received Ph.D. degree in February 2011 in chemistry from the same university. He was appointed as assistant teacher in chemistry at Lowa Dibakar Vidyamandir (High) School, Lowa, Galsi, Burdwan, West Bengal, in 2005. Again he was also appointed as assistant professor in chemistry at Saldiha College (affiliated to the University of Bankura), Saldiha, Bankura, West Bengal, in 2008. Again he was also appointed as assistant professor in chemistry at Krishna Chandra College (affiliated to the University of Burdwan), Hetampur, Birbhum, West Bengal, in 2017. At present, he is responsible for teaching courses in organic and natural products chemistry as Associate Professor. He serves as a member of the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) and Prof. Sukumar Maiti Polymer Award Foundation (PSMPAF), Kolkata. Dr. Jash’s research interests include (i) isolation, structure elucidation, and details NMR study of new natural products from medicinal plants; (ii) semi-synthetic studies with natural products; (iii) evaluation of biological activities and pharmaceutical potential of natural compounds; and (iv) Organic synthesis. He has published so far nearly 60 publications including original research papers, review articles, book and book chapters in edited books in the field of Organic Chemistry from different national and international journal of repute. He has also attended/presented papers in 50 International, National, and state level seminars/conferences. He was also working as reviewer of some journal of repute, like Journal of Molecular Structure, Pharmaceutical Biology, Physical Science Review and other. He achieved best paper presented awards in international conference held in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, India in February-2014 and Akal University, Punjab, India in September-2021. He was listed in various book of biography of personalities such as Asia/Pacific Who's Who in 2016, Famous India: Nation’s Who’s Who in 2016, Learned India: Educationists Who’s Who in 2017 and Biography India in 2017.
